1. Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are collected and processed directly by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number.
When you upload a video for processing, we store that video file, the transcript generated from it, and the resulting clips. These are deleted automatically on the schedule set out in section 5 — we do not keep them indefinitely.
2. How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account, and authenticate you when you log in.
- To process the videos you upload into clips, and let you download the results.
- To track your monthly clip usage against your plan's limit.
- To process payments and manage your subscription, via Stripe.
- To respond to support requests and refund requests you submit.
3. What we don't do
We don't sell your personal information or your uploaded video content to anyone. We do not use your uploaded videos, transcripts or generated clips to train models — not for other customers, and not for us.
4. Third-party services
We rely on two third-party services to operate ShortsCreator, and each receives only what it needs to do its job:
- Stripe processes payments. Stripe receives your billing details directly — we never see or store your full card number.
- A speech-to-text provider generates transcripts. When you upload a video to be turned into clips, the audio is sent to this provider, which returns a transcript. We use that transcript both to write captions and to decide which moments become clips.
When AssemblyAI is and isn't involved. Clip generation requires a transcript, so every video uploaded for clipping has its audio processed by AssemblyAI. This is not optional, and turning captions off does not skip it — the transcript is what identifies which moments to cut. If you would rather no audio left our systems, you can still use the video editor and the thumbnail editor on their own: videos uploaded directly to those tools are never sent to AssemblyAI or any other outside service.
We do not share your video content with any other third party.
5. Data retention
We delete your content automatically rather than keeping it indefinitely:
- Original uploaded videos are deleted 7 days after processing.
- Generated clips are kept 7 days on the Free plan and 30 days on paid plans, then deleted. We email you a reminder before clips expire, so you have time to download them.
- Editor and thumbnail projects you save are kept while your account is active.
- Account data (your email address and plan) is kept while your account exists.
You can delete any video and its clips yourself at any time from your dashboard, without waiting for these periods to elapse. Deleting your account removes your videos, clips, saved projects and account data. You can also request deletion by emailing us.
